About Soh.colourful
Hello, I'm Wan Lin the artist behind soh.colourful

I didn’t grow up thinking I’d become an artist.
In fact, I spent most of my younger years doing the opposite of pursuing what I loved. Art was always there, but quietly. I remember drawing in my school workbooks and getting caught and scolded 😅. After that, I just got better at hiding it and switched to drawing on textbooks and even my table.
But drawing never really left me.
I’ve always loved giving and receiving drawings as gifts, especially the silly ones. There’s something about hand-drawn, handmade items that made gifting extra thoughtful.
After leaving my job of 6 years, I found myself in a strange in-between season. The job market wasn’t great, and for once, I allowed myself to slow down and ask: what do I actually want to do?
That was when I started volunteering with Hope For Animals, painting pet portraits to assist in raising funds.
To be honest, I didn’t start out confident at all. It took time drawing, redrawing, second-guessing, and slowly learning to trust my own style. But along the way, something clicked.
It wasn’t just about drawing pets.
It was about the stories people shared with me such as their cat’s weird habits, their bunny’s attitude, their dog's little quirks that made them them. I realised I didn’t just want to draw what pets look like. I wanted to capture who they are.
In September 2025, I finally gathered the courage to start selling my work at a booth.
And… I haven’t stopped drawing pets since.

Not your usual pet portraits
Some people want elegant, photo-realistic paintings.
But I discovered that many pet owners want something else entirely.
Something fun, slightly chaotic, and full of personality.
That’s how my “criminal pet portraits” were born (my proud little brainchild 🐶).
From suspicious side-eyes to guilty faces, I started turning pets into tiny troublemakers and honestly, I can’t stop. Since then, I’ve been exploring more themed, playful styles like potty portraits and other silly concepts that celebrate the imperfect, hilarious side of our pets.

Why Soh.colourful?
I didn’t name this brand to only draw pets.
But somehow, it grew into exactly that and I think I’m okay with it staying this way for a long time.
Because at the heart of it, this isn’t just about art.
It’s about celebrating the little personalities that make our pets so easy to love.

What's next for Soh.colourful?
I don’t fully know where this journey will lead yet.
But I hope it grows, evolves, and becomes something even more meaningful.
And I hope you’ll be part of it 💛
